High-quality textile printing calls for a balance between art and science. The textile master’s recipe and guiding hand are prerequisites for a good result. However, unless the right kind of thickener is added to the dye paste, it will not be possible to create sharp distinctions between the colors. Alginate is far and away the best and most widely used thickener for the reactive dyes used on cellulose fibers. The great advantage of alginate is that it does not react with the dye or the fiber, so it results in clear colors and soft fabrics. For 40 years, Lamitex© alginates have been synonymous with premium textile thickeners. Lamitex are extremely clean running, resulting in a minimum of expensive down-time for cleaning of clogged screens. This also avoids the high costs of consequent reject and second quality fabrics.
