FMC BioPolymer ran a “Footwear for Farmers” campaign to raise money among employees to purchase rubber  boots for farmers.  These boots protect their feet from sharp rocks, sea urchins and stingrays, promoting safety and productivity.

 Madagascar School Funded by FMC BioPolymer

In conjunction with the school funding, FMC BioPolymer has partnered with its supplier, Ibis Madagascar, and a Norwegian non-profit organization to participate in a project funded primarily by the Norwegian government called “Seaweed Production In Madagascar,” or SPIM.

 Recycling Initiative

The Irish Minister of the Environment has presented FMC’s Cork, Ireland plant with an award as the most accomplished member of REPAC. REPAC is an organization of Irish manufacturing companies that supports recycling of packaging materials. FMC won the award based on its use and handling of packaging materials, including those associated with the delivery of raw materials and goods to its site.
 Mosquito Nets Distributed to Zanzibar Seaweed Farmers

FMC BioPolymer employees exceeded their year-long goal of collecting enough money to supply 1,000 mosquito nets to seaweed farmers in Tanzania.  Employee generosity, combined with a matching contribution from FMC, resulted in the purchase of more than 2,000 of the specially treated nets.
